We prefer to use cameras with starlight function in some of the outdoor areas of our installation .

  • Starlight cameras are designed to provide good video quality even in very low light conditions like starlight, moonlight, etc. where normal cameras would produce dark, grainy, or black video.
  • They achieve this through a combination of a more sensitive image sensor, improved noise reduction, and smart imaging processing. Many starlight cameras use CMOS sensors which can detect lower light levels than older CCD sensors.
  • The sensors have increased sensitivity, meaning they can produce a usable image with very few photons of light. This allows them to see details even with minor ambient light.
  • Using larger pixel sizes on the sensor also allows more light to be collected, improving low light capabilities. Larger pixels also tend to reduce noise.
  • Imaging chips will often stack pixels, combining data from multiple pixels to one. This allows more light capture without decreasing resolution.
  • Noise reduction and image processing algorithms specifically designed for low light scenarios also help clean up the video output.
  • Special housing and lenses may also increase light intake and guide available light to the sensor more effectively.

Without more details on a specific starlight CCTV camera’s make and model, that covers some of the key technologies that allow these cameras to see well in nighttime environments.
